How to Go Local with Your Inbound Marketing

How to Go Local with Your Inbound Marketing

Inbound marketing is all about getting attention and making connections so that you can develop trust with your audience. Once trust is developed you can begin to communicate with your audience in a way that is open, honest and prosperous. They will trust you to lead them in the right direction with your products, services, ideas and recommendations.

Today, inbound marketing is completed through the use of blogging, podcasting, videos, eBooks, eReports, email lists, search engine optimization (SEO) and social media. All aspects of content marketing is really inbound marketing.

This type of marketing helps you get found, build trust, and convert sales. It doesn’t matter if you’re a local bricks and mortar business or a solely online business. You can go local with your inbound marketing with astounding results. After all, you are in business to make a profit, therefore you’ll want to participate in the types of marketing that get results. Local inbound marketing gets results.

Blog about Things Local

Simply by mentioning the name of your city and town in your blog, or local landmarks, you will create the right keywords for your audience to find you locally as well as the search engines to list you more locally. The words on the page are more important than the words in the code. Remember to talk about your local area, point out landmarks, and somehow relate these to your business.

Use Social Media Marketing

Create business pages that list your address on social media networks like Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+ and Twitter. Naturally your social media will link back to your website with your blog giving your audience more local cues about your business. It helps to follow and connect with those who are local to you, as well to help spread the word about your business.

Go To, Sponsor and Host Local Events

This may seem like something that has nothing to do with inbound marketing, but nothing could be further from the truth. When you go to, sponsor or host a local event you will blog about it, write about it, post about it, share it, send out a press release about it, like it and the report back about it. All these things are opportunities for local inbound marketing.

Become an Author

Publish that book you’ve been holding off on, then send out a press release, host a book signing, and get local people to show up through a variety of means such as online advertising, newspaper advertising and more.

Finally, become a source to your local news reporters about topics within your niche. Reporters can be lazy and also they can be in a rush. If they have one person to act as a source for all things in your niche, someone who is responsive, honest and reliable, they’re going to come to you first.
