SMT Challenge Day 18

Finding Affiliates & Creating JV Opportunities With Linked In

LinkedIn is a very business-oriented social media network. Most people who are on LinkedIn are looking for business related opportunities as well as jobs. That’s a great opportunity for you if you need to find affiliates and joint venture partners. You can make amazing connections with serious business people on LinkedIn.com.

To succeed with LinkedIn there are a few important steps.

Complete Your Profile

Completing your profile 100 percent will give you a lot better opportunity to attract just the right affiliates and JV partners. So, before starting your search, work on completing your profile.

Get a professional headshot, and if needed hire someone to help you perfect your profile. How it appears to others is going to make a huge difference in whether people trust you or not.

Do Your Research

When you’re looking for the right people to work with or to represent your brand getting to know everything you can about the person is important. You can use LinkedIn to help you research people and look at their profiles. In some cases, you may need to upgrade your account to get more access.

Know What You Want

When you’re conducting research, first write down what you want in an affiliate and what you’d want in a JV partner. That way, as you search through profiles you’ll be able to determine who fits your criteria and who doesn’t. Make a list of the people who fit, using a spreadsheet with a link to their profile.

Develop Your Message

When you’re trying to attract the right people to you, it’s important to pay attention to your messaging. Before you send out one email, arrange one phone conversation, or meet with anyone know what you want, why you want it, and what you have to offer to them to get them on your team.

You can work some of this messaging into your profile if you know that you want to recruit affiliates and find JV opportunities with white papers, videos, and more.

Join Groups

On LinkedIn, there are a variety of niche groups that you can join. When you participate in these groups people get to know you better. Provide value and don’t sell people in groups. Let them click through to your profile instead. That will help them feel safe in contacting you and working with you because you’ve presented yourself professionally and provide value to each group you join.

Keep Your Status Updated

Don’t let your LinkedIn profile go dead. Create informative status updates at least a few times a week. People like to know what you’re up to and you look more honest when you have good updates occasionally than if you only contact people and never keep your status and profile updated.

LinkedIn is very business to business oriented. Use that to your advantage to find others with whom you can collaborate. Just make sure to do all your homework before making appointments with people that you don’t know. You’ll be glad that you did.
